"My Medicare University" as Heard on WJR Radio is Coming to Colleges Around Metro Detroit for Free Educational Workshop Series About Medicare

Detroit, Mich. --- Local Medicare company, Senior Health Medicare, is hosting a free Medicare workshop series titled "Medicare 101" at multiple locations in metro Detroit throughout the fall months. The upcoming Annual Election Period (AEP) for Medicare starts October 15 and can be a confusing time for those on Medicare, which inspired the series.

The series is seeking to educate seniors so they can make the best possible choices for their health coverage. In this workshop people are learning what Medicare is and how it works, the coverage options to fill gaps in original Medicare, what Medicare changes are coming and how they will affect Medicare beneficiaries, all about the Part D prescription benefit and how to make the most of it, and much more.

These workshops are attracting seniors at any stage in their Medicare journey-whether they are turning 65, working after age 65 and taking employer coverage, or if they have been on Medicare for years. This workshop would also appeal to any children or grandchildren of Medicare beneficiaries who want to better understand the system to help their elders.

Senior Health Medicare is collaborating with Detroit’s WJR Radio to bring metro Detroit a Medicare-specific radio show. The show is called "Medicare University" and is hosted by Warren Pierce and his special guests, Kevin Tunison, Chief Executive Officer at Senior Health Medicare. The show is aiming to answer general Medicare questions from live callers in metro Detroit. WJR’s "Medicare University" airs on Sundays all throughout the year. The show is inspiring the Medicare workshop series, which have been ongoing since September.

"The feedback we have received from these sessions has been tremendous," says Ventrone of Senior Health Medicare. "It feels amazing when I talk to folks at these events and they genuinely appreciate the information and say how much clearer it’s made Medicare for them. It’s a confusing topic, so that moment when it clicks for people is really powerful to watch."

The workshops are running all over metro Detroit at local colleges. Macomb Community College in Warren, Schoolcraft College in Livonia, and the Michigan State University Education Center in Troy with dates in October and November at all locations. The sessions run at 10am, 2pm, and 6pm and last approximately 90 minutes with 30 minutes of question and answer. For a complete list of workshops and to RSVP, visit the website www.mymedicareuniversity.com.

Attendees of the workshops receive complimentary WJR prescription discount cards as well as a complimentary Medicare Part D prescription review.
